At Adler Physical Therapy the first step is a thorough evaluation of your condition including motion, strength, balance, pain. Based on this evaluation an individualized plan of care will be developed to fit your unique recovery needs.

Physical Therapy Initial Evaluation

This is a comprehensive dive into your relevant medical history, getting to know you and what brings you in. A thorough evaluation is key to deveoping an effective treatment plan. We will look at your movement or range of motion, strength, balance, flexibility, and any areas of tightness or pain. A plan of care will be established and then we can begin the journey back to health and wellness.

Manual Therapies

Next to a therapists brain the most important asset they bring to the table is their hands. We utilize soft tissue techniques such as cross fiber friction, pin and stretch, trigger point release to improve tissue length, enhance circulation to aid in healing, and decrease pain. Instrument assisted massage often used such as cupping and scraping techniques. These techniques may be used in conjunction with passive motion and/or joint mobilization to decrease pain and improve joint mobility of the extremities or the spine. Different forms of taping are used for for pain control or to activate or de-activate certain muscles to improve function.

Therapeutic Exercise

Imbalances in strength can lead to decreased stability of areas which can make them prone to injury. We use various techniques  to strengthen and/or stabilize regions to decrease pain and improve function; these techniques may include but are not limited to free weights, TRX and other body weight supported exercises, active movement, and elastic band station.

Balance

Balance invloves inputs from our eyes, inner ear, and joint receptors in our ankles and hips that tell our body where we are in time and space. As we age those systems weaken and like anything else if you don't use it you lose it. At Adler Physical Therapy we train both static and dynamic balance on level and unlevel surfaces to reduce fall risk and improve confidence with functional activities.

Modalities

At Adler Physical Therapy we use modalities to reduce pain and support your other treatments. These include but are not limited to moist heat, ice, ultrasound, Softwave, TENS, IFC.

Sport Specific Training

Getting you back on the field as soon as possible and as safe as possible is the ultimate goal. Sport specific training may include plyometric drills, working on reaction time, specific strengthening; by utilizing blaze pods, ladder drills, etc. This can be done in the clinic or at your gym or specific location of sport performance.

Home Exercise Program Development

A specific and custom tailored home exercise program is key to helping you maintain therapeutic gains from your treatment sessions and increase the pace of recovery. We use a program that can be accessed online with both pictures and videos available. Exercise dose is specified including sets, reps, and how often and exercise should be performed.

Ergonomic Evaluation

Do you sit all day? How is your desk set-up? How is your posture? Sitting all day in the same faulty position can cause aches, pains, and lead to repetitive injuries. We will perform an evaluation of your work space onsite or via zoom to evaluate your chair, desk and monitor heights, etc to determine how your work environment can be made more ergonomic to keep you feeling and performing your best.
